Description:
Position Profile
The Shop Technician is an entry-level position. Initial classroom and OJT product training completed at this stage. Under close supervision, typically in a production/shop center, sets up new equipment for delivery to IKON end-user customers. May be involved in maintenance, repair and refurbishment of equipment.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
* Meets/exceeds expectations on all assignments.
* Develops skills necessary to successfully carry out assigned duties.
* Meets appropriate productivity standards relative to assigned job responsibility as outlined by manager.
Class Room Training
* Under close supervision of Shop Manager, follows company training programs, policies, procedures and guidelines.
* Attends and satisfactorily completes assigned training including at least two
* Segment 2 & 3 devices, Canon Basic Quest or Ricoh Core Basic, and Microsoft end User OS and Tools or equivalent test.
* Demonstrates appropriate technical skills for the set-up, repair, servicing and rebuild of designated equipment.
On The Job Training
* Receives direction and performs assignments relative to the set-up, repair, rebuild and servicing of office equipment including, but not limited to, copiers, printers and facsimile machines in shop facility.
* Maintains clean and organized workspace
* Responsible for servicing and safekeeping of assigned company property.
* Completes all required administrative tasks in an accurate and timely manner.
* Complies with all company policies
* Demonstrates good work habits and observes all safety rules.
* Demonstrates Technical Expertise
* Set-up and demo prep all assigned equipment and perform full operational checks making all necessary adjustments.
* Rebuild equipment using standard rebuild process.
* Analyze and troubleshoot equipment failures to determine necessary corrective action
Customer Service
* Demonstrates the ability to work cooperatively with others in the production area and provide quality customer service to other employees and external customers.
* Understands and utilizes problem escalation procedure.
* Represents IKON in a professional manner at all times including personal customer contact, written communication, and conversation.
* Is a positive and contributing team member
* Performs other duties as assigned.
Financial Responsibility
* Quality of work can have direct influence on customer purchase decision.
* In addition, poor work habits can result in equipment damage and unnecessary parts replacements.
Qualifications(Education, Experience and Certifications)
* Requires basic technical knowledge (mechanics, electrical circuitry, electronics and basic computer literacy) typically gained through completion of two years of technical school and less than 1 year of related experience.
* Attends scheduled training/instruction to acquire/increase working knowledge of electro-mechanical devices, application of service aids and a basic diagnostics technique. Auto Mechanic ability helpful. This position does not utilize computer programming abilities.
